PTA Elections: Secretary

Today we continue our series of Office Highlights, hearing directly from this year’s outgoing PTA officers. PTA elections are next week, Tuesday, April 5th, and we need some brave souls to step up to the plate! Julie Remington, our Treasurer, will be staying for another year, but it’s time for our President, Vice President, and Secretary to move on. All of these people have served Kohl in various ways for several years, and it’s time to pass the baton.

Let’s hear from this year’s Secretary, Stacey Blicker:

Why Serve as Secretary?  staceyblicker

This position is ideal for anyone who wants to be involved! There’s
no better way to know what’s happening in your school. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, and discuss opporunities to further support Kohl Elementary.

What Exactly Does the PTA Secretary Do?

As record keeper of the PTA, the Secretary attends executive meetings and participates in discussions and decision-making. He or she takes accurate minutes from both the executive session and the general meeting, and also prepares the sign-in sheet. The Secretary then forwards the minutes to the Communication Team, which are posted on the Kohl PTA website & in-house bulletin board. The Secretary isn’t responsible for getting PTA news out to the school community–that service is provided by the Communication Team.

What is the Time Commitment?

The time commitment is up to you. Typically you can expect to contribute only 1 -2 hours a month; however, once you are active in the happenings at Kohl Elementary, you can’t help but volunteer for other activities.

Best Thing About Serving As Secretary?

The best thing about serving on the PTA is the relationships you build.
